Two secret projects revealed

In July I posted that I had been doing secret sewing for Aussie Hero Quilts.

These two laundry bags were presented to the crew of HMAS Darwin during the last week to commemorate their final deployment before the ship is decommissioned.

The fronts are plain colours with the ships crest so the crew can collect signatures or other commemorative momentos of their final trip. The backs are 'nautical' or Australian themed.

To see the reactions of the crew of HMAS Darwin pop over here to read the blog post.

Glad to be a part of this project.

See you soon.

September OPAM numbers 2 &3

Well September was a month of deadlines for me and with 2 weeks of school holidays & impending travel, I had to be organised.

This Aussie Hero Quilt & Laundry Bag are for a "Wallabies" lover.  He is also part of 7RAR and their mascot is a pig, so I appliqued a pig to one side of his laundry bag and a Wallabies logo to the other.

His quilt was loaded onto my trusty quilting frame and O-me and I got to work.
(On a side note, I love that Wallabies fabric in the middle of the quilt - it is from 2 doona covers I purchased a couple of years ago.  I will be very sad once it is all gone)

And as usual.  Messages were stitched into the quilt.
We took this quilt to the nursery for a photo shoot too.  Here is is being quality controlled by a couple of corrugated horses.

Both large mustard panels feature stitched messages of encouragement.
I love these simple but striking quilts.

Until next time.

HELLO 2015

Well it has been a very long time between blog posts.
Not for lack of desire but probably lack of time.

I have been motivated to post again by the lovely Kris from Tag Along Teddies and the launch of OPAM 2015.

Shall we say, this is a great motivator to not only finish things but to document them.

January saw me quite constructive.  As long time blog readers would be aware I sew for Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry Bags.

I posted off a couple of quilts and laundry bags and have commenced sewing a few more.

The quilt below was sent to a female serving in the Middle East

This is the laundry bag sent to her
This quilt was sent to a fellow on HMAS Success

And this is his laundry bag

So, I have been sewing and I was much more constructive than I thought.
See you back here soon with a few more finishes ( I hope),
