It is Show Time

May is show month here in Roma.

I had a few items to enter and decided at the last minute to make a 'novelty pincushion'.

Bee flower was the result.  I chopped up the base of an enviro shopper to make sure the pins don't stab me in the wrist - it is inserted in the base of the flower under the felt.

Bee hive fabric with a cute beehive button.

adjustable elastic with a cute bee button to keep it on my wrist.

It does it's job and I don't get stabbed.

The entries at our show were a little light on this year but there were some lovely exhibits.

Hubby entered a leather belt and pocket knife holder

My pincushion and the other two in the pincushion section.  I came 2nd.

 Some of the lovely exhibits.

These 2 quilts were made by my UFO craft group.
They placed 1st (left) and 2nd (right) n the collaborative quilt section.

My pinwheel quilt came 1st in the 'quilt' category.
Second was this beautiful bright scrappy quilt by my friend Gayle.

The boys entered some woodwork

and some LEGO.

This amazing cross stitch of a photograph won the Grand Champion handicraft exhibit.  I have no idea how many stitches it was, but it was stunning.

We entered photos

 and a scarecrow (middle one)

checked out the school display

 and rode the bumper cars.

All in all, a good show.

Props and Shaggy Photo Quilts

In my post yesterday I mentioned that my Hubby was making some props for me for the craft fair.
Here he is 'playing' with the old garden stakes
to create some rustic stands for me
that are perfect for holding my blackboards.  Thanks P they are perfect.
While P was making stands, I was finishing 2 Shaggy Photo Quilts featuring the photos of Bindi Taneal Photography.  Bindi is the lovely lady I am exhibiting with when I go to Emerald.  I think our work will really complement each other.  She has some great canvas images, calendars & cards to sell.

Now for the Shaggy Photo Quilts.

"Denim"

and a close up of the photo block
and

"Modern"
This one was really out of my colour comfort zone, but I love it.  I think it still shows off the lovely photos but is fresh.
 and another close up.

So these can go in the pile ready for Craft Fair and I have to get back to the grindstone (after home work and looking after a sick boy).

My boys have been up to 'secret' business

I was so very excited on Sunday when my hubby took the boys outside to do some 'bloke' craft.

I am not permitted to say what they were making as it is a "secret" but they were so proud of their efforts and have be asking to go & do some more.
The hammered, scratched, banged, polished, got excited, got upset, told each other what to do, listened very attentively to Daddy's instructions (for the 1st minute) and all in all had a good time.
I will reveal the finishes when I am given permission.

A little Valentine Love

Well as many people are aware & obsessed about, today is Valentine's Day.
Now we don't normally do Valentine's Day in my house as we object to the commercialism, but in saying that, it is good to be reminded to tell our loved ones that we love them.

Now before I progress any further what does PS I love you mean??
Any ideas??
Now officially  "PS means 'post script' which is an addition or after thought from the person writing or leaving you a message. It obvious they still love you."

In Our house it means  "Beloved Husband, I love you."
(His initials are PS, so he has always considered this a personal message to him)

Inspired by this vinyl cling I saw at Say it on the Wall

I had my lovely friend Emma create a cling for our house.  Here is "PS I love you"  Emma style.

if you look really closely at the picture & squint you can see our engagement photo in the background.

So inspired by all this love I created a cushion for my PS.
 Tiny red roses.....
a red butterfly ......
and
PS I love you.
(more than you will ever know)
