Costume Finished, Musical Over

My last post was about the Sheriff costume for my son.

Well the musical is over, school is now on holidays and we are onto the next projects.

I promised a photo of the complete outfit, so here it is.

"All Shook Up" was a brilliant production and a credit to the students and teachers.

A special shout out to Broken Record from Redcliffe, Qld who custom made our thank you gifts for the teachers, she CNC Routed the production logo into records. The teachers loved them.

Costumes and Hearts

Sometimes, the pretty sewing has to be put aside for the 'important' or  "but Mum, I need it tomorrow"  sewing.

That is what this creation is.  A costume for the teenager for the school musical.  

His character is an American Sheriff, so I had to create a uniform for the sheriff.  

Epaulets and pocket triangles added to a fawn coloured shirt seemed to fit the bill.

 

It appears I forgot to photograph the finished shirt.  Oh well the production is on in the next couple of weeks, I'll try to remember then.

The Sheriff also needed a holster for his pistol.  You cant see it, but it is sewn.  Got to love having a craft cupboard of random fabrics. I knew the black vinyl would be handy eventually. LOL.

 My 'no stress' sewing lately has been felt pocket hearts for the 1000 Hearts Project.  These pretties were sent to an acquaintance who's had a tough time lately.  One for herself and others to share with her  local support crew.  If you are interested, pop over here to find out more about the 1000 Heart Project.

When colouring in becomes sewing

This little sewing project was finished out of necessity.

My youngest son needed a bag for his clarinet music. He has been colouring this piece of Pokemon material on and off for a few months and decided it would make a good bag.

It is fully lined it with a great flame fabric, so if we need to or want to it is fully reversible.
Now E just needs to finish colouring. 

December - where oh where did my year go??

Wow, December always comes around way to quickly.

2015 was no exception.

In 'sewing land' I was able to see my son's enjoyment as he completed his Grade 8 Home Economics Boxer Shorts.  He was so proud and enjoyed the process so much, that he made a 2nd pair as a Christmas present for his brother. (Not sure where I put that photo)

 I continued work on "Mum's Quilt".  This quilt was a jelly roll quilt that Mum had made because 'anyone can make a Jelly roll quilt'.  It was a centre that needed turning into a quilt, so after, borders, procrastinating, finding a "mum approved" lily silhouette I was back to work to finish it.

 I then remembered that I had promised the boys personalised pillow cases for Christmas, so a frantic afternoon sewing and they had "Star Wars" & "Pokemon" pillow cases ready for Christmas day.

 

We then headed to Brisbane to spend Christmas with the family.  Mum's quilt wasn't quite finished, so I was binding whilst taking in the view.

 and more importantly Mum is happy with it.

Then it was Christmas and in a heartbeat it was New Years Eve.

This was our view for NYE .  It was our wedding anniversary & my sister had arranged a motel in the city for us all. The view of  South Bank was AMAZING!!

 Apparently 15 years wedding anniversary gift is crystal.  Hubby did not think this Waterford Crystal Chandelier was appropriate.  At only $15000 it was a bargain.  :)
